In March, I gave a presentation at RE//verse 2026 titled “Reversing Age of Empires 2: Upgrading tools from Dark Age to Castle Age”. I talked about how reverse engineering Age of Empires 2 (Definitive Edition) led me to develop automation and plugins for Binary Ninja to decrypt and de-obfuscate its code, including a query system for pattern matching BNIL instruction sequences.
